KATERINA TANA, based in Venice, California, has designed custom houses and gardens in the United States and England since 1998. Katerina’s work has been featured in Western Interiors and Design and California Home and Design (cover).
In 2004 Katerina introduced CENTURIES AHEAD by KATERINA TANA a collection of tables in collaboration with the Iznik Foundation in Turkey to celebrate the tile making traditions and the craftsmanship of local California master woodworkers and bronze casters.
In 2009, KATERINA TANA COLLECTION–LOOM was launched and offered her an opportunity to share her passion for textiles and surface design as well as a deep regard for handcrafted traditions, high quality, and the organic fibers of Belgian linen. KTC–LOOM is a collection that speaks for our time: the present rather than the past, celebrating the freshness of this moment.
KTC–LOOM celebrates the glories of the natural world that surround her in California: the glorious light, colors, and motifs that surface where the Chapparal meets the Pacific Ocean. It draws inspiration from the local flora and fauna and crystal blue skies. The Collection requires a variety of quality-driven processes including: dye-printing, yarn-drying, custom-weaving, and hand-screening. Styles range from reversible herringbones to weighty solids and double-sided sheers.
KTC–GLOW lighting is made in Los Angeles. The metalwork is executed by a French craftsman and the finishes are created by an Eastern European artisan who utilizes old world methods; layers of gesso, clay, and gold leaf are burnished and antiqued by hand.
KTC–RUG is a collection of made-to-order rugs derived from our textile designs and woven by Christopher Farr in either hand knotted raw silk or hand-tufted and spun wool.
KTC–PAPER is in the pipeline. Please inquire for custom orders based on our textile designs.
